A Plea from Basics Bank
The NFBB has now submitted a Planning Application to the New Forest District Council for a new building to be erected on a new site at the lower end of the High Street as the current ‘Cabin’ behind the URC is no longer large enough for the growing demands on it. The Planning Application reference number is 19/10072.
For this planning application to be approved it is essential that as many people as possible support this application by writing direct to NFDC: M/s Viviennee Baxter, Planning Officer NFDC at the Planning Department, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA quoting the above Reference 19/10072 or use the link on the website NFDC.gov.uk/planning (and follow the instructions for commenting on an application).
In January we started the Pilgrim Course. All are welcome to join us as we explore together the Christian faith, whether you are completely new to this or have been part of church for a long time. We are running the course at two different times of day – one in the afternoons, to be finished in time for school pick up, and one in the evenings. Join us whenever is most convenient for you.
Daytime sessions will be led by our associate priest, Anne Elliott (07533 552540) and held in the St Mark’s room within church, from 1:45pm to 2:45pm continuing on the 27th February, 6th March and 13th March.
Evening sessions will led by our priest in charge, Rachel Noël (01590 462022) and held in the vicarage (29 Ramley Road) from 7:30pm to 8:30pm – our next evening session is on the 27th February, with the final session now to occur on the 6th March.
Ash Wednesday is on March 6th this year: as part of this, we ask that anyone who may have a palm cross from Palm Sunday last year bring this back to church, to go towards the ashes for this service!
Old Testament …in a nut shell!
The Old Testament is massive, often hard to understand and difficult to navigate. However, it doesn’t have to be; relax and enjoy the journey as an experienced guide encourages you to see God’s Word through the ‘Big Picture’. A fun and memorable session is coming up at St Luke’s Church in Sway on Saturday 23rd from 9:15am to 4:30pm for £14 per person – find out more via Yvonne Olsen, ‘WTTB@StLukesChurchSway.org.uk’.
Moving on from bronze!
If Gordon’s words from Sunday 10th morning service resonate with you (the sermon is available to watch on our Facebook page and through our website), we’re inviting anyone that’s interested in taking this further to join the meeting on 2nd April, 7pm in the St Mark’s Room – to think more about EcoChurch, and how we can develop this in our church & community.
Looking Forward at St Mark’s
Join us on 24th March for a special event, where together we look forward with St Mark’s. Starting with breakfast at the slightly earlier time of 9am, we’ll be working together to tell the story of our church, celebrate our strengths and encourage each other in shaping the way forward for our parish and community. We’ll be welcoming Jo Desmond, who will help lead our conversations that day. Welcome to all, please do come along to add your voice – even if this isn’t your usual morning service!
Are you a keen gardener?
Please think of us when dividing or moving your plants at this time of year. We need plants to sell at our plant stall at the Spring Fair, on 30th March. If you can help, please speak to Cynthia Chambers in church – or email ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’ with your details.
Calling all litter pickers
We will be holding a spring Litter Pick in the village on the morning of Saturday 6th April, starting from St Mark’s church at 10am. All welcome, with full details coming soon!
What goes on at Communion?
Come along on Sunday 17th March, at our 9:30am communion service to find out more. Instead of a sermon on this Sunday, we’ll be talking through the elements of the service, as we go along, to help us understand more about what’s actually taking place. If you’ve got any questions, you’d particularly like us to cover in this service, please let Rachel or Anne know. This will be a full communion service, we’d love to see you there.
Happy Birthday Traidcraft!
