New ways to give to St Mark’s?
How many of us carry cash? Not as many today as has been the case in previous years – where card and mobile contactless payments can be so convenient. St Mark’s is happy to announce that we can now accept payments for Traidcraft and donations to the work we do via debit and credit card, as well as mobile contactless methods. If you want to find our more, speak to our treasurer Teresa for further details!
Can you help us win £1,000 to our efforts?
Charities can take advantage of a donation from the insurer Ecclesiastical – and you can help St Mark’s by nominating us! We’re working to upgrade our hall for the community; we’re looking to improve the accessibility of the hall for disabled users – and winning this would help towards this goal.
Supporting us in this endeavour will only take a few minutes; enter our charity number ‘1173998‘ and with luck, St Mark’s will be closer to developing in Pennington!
Help our Hall!
Our thanks to those who have helped towards our hall blinds: last week, we were at £900 towards our target and thanks to kind donations, we’re now at £530 to go! If you’re able to help us with this project, please give any contributions to Teresa. You can also donate through our Just Giving campaign at:
Easter Saturday Market Stall
We raised over £130! Thank you so much to everyone who helped: I really am grateful for your support – it is much appreciated. Thank you also to everyone who kindly donated items – we couldn’t do it without your generosity.
Our next Lymington Market stall is 25th May: please do come to support us – Pam Ansell
Basics Bank thanks everyone for all their donated goods but at present as they have a sufficient supply of baked beans and soup they would be grateful to receive instead tins of vegetables, rice pudding and custard.
We’re trying to work out what the most effective way is of communicating with people, and whether anyone is reading this. If you do read this paragraph, please let Paul Young know!
Pilgrim: the Lords Prayer
How well do you understand the Lord’s Prayer? We say it so often: what does it mean to us? We will be looking at this in our next series of the Pilgrim course, with fortnightly daytime sessions starting on 3rd June at 11:00am Mondays, in St Mark’s room. All welcome.
Wheel Inn Event
We are running a Tombola at the Wheel Inn’s summer event, on May 25th. If you have any prizes that could be won through this, your donations kindly accepted! Please speak with Maureen Barnard or Rachel Noël in church for further details, or if you can volunteer to help on the stall for any part of the afternoon.
We now have some spring/summer catalogues available on the stall at the back of church. You will see that Traidcraft have reduced the number of lines being stocked and, sadly, at the moment some of our favourites have been discontinued or are work in progress. However please have a look through the catalogues and see if there are any items you would like ordered. Every little helps!
We have been offered a set of 35mm slides, possibly black and white, taken some years ago on a trip to the Holy Land showing Jerusalem and many religious sites. Would anyone interested in giving these slides a good home please contact Pat Wright (01590 678416) in the first instance.
Commitment to St Mark’s
It currently costs us about £6000 per month to sustain the work of this church. Our fundraising, giving and income only covers £5,000. Please consider joining our Parish Giving Scheme, making a regular commitment even if it’s just a few pounds, it really makes a difference to our work here. Please speak to Teresa or Maureen if you would like to consider this step.
The Meditation Group will meet on Monday 13th at 2.30 in the Lady Chapel. We will be focusing on Prayer. All are welcome.
Together in Harmony
A community music group for people with dementia along with their carers meet at Boldre Memorial Hall on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, from 10am for opening refreshments and from 10:30 to 11:30am for music.
Costing £5 per couple, if you want to find out more please contact Frances Attwood on 01590 718749, 07500 117814 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
