Looking Forward at St Mark’s
Join us on 24th March for a special event, where together we look forward with St Mark’s. Starting with breakfast at the slightly earlier time of 9am, we’ll be working together to tell the story of our church, celebrate our strengths and encourage each other in shaping the way forward for our parish and community. We’ll be welcoming Jo Desmond, who will help lead our conversations that day. Welcome to all, please do come along to add your voice – even if this isn’t your usual morning service!
Our last daytime session will be led by our associate priest, Anne Elliott (07533 552540) and held in the St Mark’s room within church, from 1:45pm to 2:45pm on the 13th March.
Roland Stott, a familiar face to many at St Mark’s – especially as part of our Evensong services – will be celebrated in a service of thanksgiving on Tuesday April 2nd, at 11:30am. All are welcome to this service, to celebrate and remember his life.
Join the Events Committee?
Our events committee work hard to bring new and exciting events to St Mark’s – to help community awareness of what we do, to raise funds for our church and to offer something new to residents of Pennington and Lymington. Would you like to join and help us to make a difference? Please speak to Eve Jolly if you want to find our more!
What goes on at Communion?
Come along on Sunday 17th March, at our 9:30am communion service to find out more. Instead of a sermon on this Sunday, we’ll be talking through the elements of the service, as we go along, to help us understand more about what’s actually taking place. If you’ve got any questions, you’d particularly like us to cover in this service, please let Rachel or Anne know. This will be a full communion service, we’d love to see you there.
Can you help towards the Spring Fair?
Please think of us when dividing or moving your plants at this time of year. We need plants to sell at our plant stall at the Spring Fair, on 30th March. If you can help with plants, please speak to Cynthia Chambers in church.
We also need: Cakes, Bric-a-Brac, prizes for Tombola, Hamper, Help on putting up and taking down stalls, help running stalls, help with serving refreshments, but mostly friends and family of the congregation to come and join in! If you can help, please speak to Eve or Maureen in church – or email ‘email@example.com’ with your details.
Old Testament …in a nut shell!
The Old Testament is massive, often hard to understand and difficult to navigate. However, it doesn’t have to be; relax and enjoy the journey as an experienced guide encourages you to see God’s Word through the ‘Big Picture’. A fun and memorable session is coming up at St Luke’s Church in Sway on Saturday 23rd from 9:15am to 4:30pm for £14 per person – find out more via Yvonne Olsen, ‘WTTB@StLukesChurchSway.org.uk’.
New Forest Spring Clean
Come and be part of this Great British Spring Clean, as we work around our community, starting at St Mark’s church from 10:00am to 12 noon on Saturday 6 April. Refreshments and all equipment will be provided: we hope to see you there!
Moving on from bronze!
If Gordon’s words from Sunday 10th morning service resonate with you (the sermon is available to watch on our Facebook page and through our website), we’re inviting anyone that’s interested in taking this further to join the meeting on 2nd April, 7pm in the St Mark’s Room – to think more about EcoChurch, and how we can develop this in our church & community.
New ways to give to St Mark’s?
How many of us carry cash? Not as many today as has been the case in previous years – where card and mobile contactless payments can be so convenient.
St Mark’s is happy to announce that we can now accept payments for Traidcraft and donations to the work we do via debit and credit card, as well as mobile contactless methods. If you want to find our more, speak to our treasurer Teresa for further details!
Further to conversations this year and a PCC meeting, we will be keeping all the kneelers that are currently in the pews. We have a store of other kneelers that are no longer used. If you would like to have one or more of these to have at home, please speak to Teresa or Rachel. Any remaining ones on the 30th March will be offered for donation at the spring fair. (Please don’t take home any from the pews, as these are regularly used.)
