Traidcraft Update

STOP PRESS: Great news! The Trustees of Traidcraft have decided to carry on trading in the new year albeit with a simpler range of products – establishing a core of grocery lines and carrying fewer craft items.  The aim is to reveal the full plan by December – so watch this space!

Christmas Card

At the back of church is a collective Christmas card for members of St Mark’s to sign. All donations in support of Water Aid.

St Nicholas Singers Christmas

St Nicholas Singers bring you a “Christmas Cracker” bursting with Carols old and new mixed with Mulled Wine and Mince Pies. Sunday 9th December at St Johns Church, Boldre at 4pm. Tickets £12 from Pilley Community Shop, Maxwell Hamilton or Rosie Adams on 01590 677068. All proceeds to local charities.

Carol Singing in Care Homes

St Mark’s are singing carols on Tuesday 18th December at Thornfields  (opposite the petrol station) at 6pm.  Freegrove (Milford Road), at 6:45pm and Belmore Lodge (on the corner of South Street) at 7:30pm.

Music will be provided and all are welcome to join us; if you’re driving up, please double up with cars as parking will be limited.  We look forward to seeing you at one or more of the Care Homes – as we know the residents look forward to our visiting them.

Going for Gold?

As you may be aware, St Mark’s were proud to recently be awarded a Bronze Eco Church aware from the A Rocha UK’s award scheme for churches in England and Wales, who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth.

We know that with the support of our congregation, we can do a lot better than bronze and in the new year will be looking to see how we can do just that. However, just as earning bronze wasn’t thanks to just one person, we know that to earn better it will take all of us working together.

Do you want to be a key part in our efforts?  We’ll be putting together an ecology working group in the new year – perhaps you may want to join us?

Christmas Unwrapped Concert

At 7:30pm on 3rd December a concert will be held in church by the very popular Sing Sway. Featuring seasonal choruses from Handel’s Messiah, Christmas carols by the choir and some audience participation numbers too!

Tickets available in church at £7, to include cheese and wine.

Children’s Society Collection

St Mark’s Church has forwarded to the Children’s Society, a cheque for the sum of £273.04, being the box collections for the year to October 2018, when all the boxes were brought to the Service for the Children’s Society. Maureen would like to thank everyone for their contributions and continuing support for this very worthwhile charity: also to thank all for bringing their boxes in time for the Service, and a special thanks to Shirley and Sue for giving up an afternoon to count and check all of the £273.04, mostly in coins.
