After 32 years, Shirley Saunders is finishing as our Community Hall Manager. We are making a collection to say a huge thank you to Shirley and John for their tremendous work looking after our hall for many years. There will be a donations box at the back of St Mark’s Church, or please pass your donation to Teresa.
In January we are starting the Pilgrim Course. All are welcome to join us as we explore together the Christian faith, whether you are completely new to this or have been part of church for a long time. We are running the course at two different times of day – one in the afternoons, to be finished in time for school pick up, and one in the evenings. Join us whenever is most convenient for you.
will be led by our associate priest, Anne Elliott (07533 552540) and held in the St Mark’s room within church, from 1:45pm to 2:45pm on the 30th January, 6th February, 13th February, 27th February, 6th March and 13th March.
will led by our priest in charge, Rachel Noël (01590 462022) and held in the vicarage (29 Ramley Road) from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on the 9th January, 16th January, 23rd January, 30th January, 6th February and 27th February.
- It starts at the very beginning
Pilgrim assumes very little understanding or knowledge of the Christian faith.
- It focuses on Jesus Christ
Pilgrim aims to equip people to follow Jesus Christ as disciples in the whole of their lives.
- It flows from the Scriptures
The primary focus of each session is a group of people engaging with the Bible together.
- It draws deeply from the Christian tradition
In the Early Church, the Christian faith was taught by the transmission of key texts which summed up the heart of the Christian message. Pilgrim restores this approach for the twenty-first century.
- It honours the Anglican way and its many streams
Pilgrim has been developed as a specifically Anglican resource which aims to cater for every tradition in the Church of England.
Looking for volunteers
As you know, financially we have a gap between the generous giving each month and our expenditure. Shirley has recently resigned from her position as Church Cleaner. We have made the difficult decision that currently we are not in a position to be able to afford to pay someone to clean our church. We are therefore asking if you would be willing to be involved in helping us to keep our church clean, either regularly or occasionally. If you may be able to help in any way, please have a chat with Eve or Teresa (07541 842025). All help gratefully received.
Morning Praise is moving?
At our recent PCC we’ve agreed to change the rhythm from January, so that morning praise is on a different Sunday in the month to evensong. From January, Morning Praise moves to the fourth Sunday of the month.
We are seeking to appoint a part time cleaner/caretaker. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, flexible and can use their initiative to ensure that the Community Hall is kept in good condition for its regular and occasional bookings.
- Job Title: Community Hall Cleaner/Caretaker
- Salary: £9.50 per hour
- Hours: 3 hours per week, all year
- Location: St Mark’s Community Hall, Pennington
