St Mark’s Church, Pennington runs a variety of groups – new members are always welcome.
On the 1st Thursday of the month the churchyard committee meets to help take care of churchyard, with its interesting and varied wildlife. No need to book ahead – just turn up at 10:00am with wellies and gardening gloves!
A small group meets at 4:00pm on the third Monday afternoon of most months in St Mark’s Room at the church to spend around 45 minutes listening to music and readings, including around 10 to 15 minutes in silent reflection, ending with a short prayer. Dates of meetings are shown on our website calendar: enquiries to Ingrid Bolhoven (01590 677940) or Anne Elliott (07553 552540).
St Mark’s Churchyard Vegetable Project
An idea which came from the practices of small holdings in Kenya – where there is a common practice of self-sufficiency – we are proud of the vegetables we are now growing within our church grounds. Our Churchyard Team put a lot of work into the planning and initial stages and we are most grateful to them for all their efforts. We now have a small team of willing and enthusiastic volunteers to take this project ahead, led by John Nivison. More volunteers are always welcome, as many hands make light work (that doesn’t mean you have to have green fingers!). Find out more at our Churchyard Vegetable Project page or contact John Nivison (01590 610566) or Anne Elliott (07553 552540) for further details.
